EARTH SUNDAY INTRO

These Season of Creation resources have been prepared as part of the Mid North Coast Uniting ecoministry, as has this retro website.

Most of them are also available on DVD through ProjectReconnect

Seasons of the Spirit is also following the Season of Creation again.
The original liturgies, lectionary readings, and other links are at the original Season of Creation website.

reflections
Adult reflection
This starts with some basic ecology, or Earth economics: we are using resources faster than they can be replenished. And we are not all using them equally. We then begin to respond to these two simple, but earth shattering truths as Christians, something we will continue over the next four weeks.

All ages reflection
Based on the "If the Earth" reading under "extra readings" below. To God, the Earth is like a ball floating in a (stellar) field. What does God think when gazing down on our planet? "God out there" is of course only one metaphor for God. Susan Wickham has prompted me to try for a more "God within" metaphor on Animals Sunday.
Someone else's video showing just how small the Earth is, floating in its field. Might be more suited to Cosmos Sunday (another year). Thanks to Susan Wickham for the link.

"Ashes to Ashes"
The new president of the Uniting Church wrote this song back in the 80s. Just invite people to listen to the first time, but if you use it each week people should pick it up. It ends with the question, "Where are the visions of hope for the Earth?"
